In diesem energetischen Kurzfilm performen die Dalit-Aktivist*innen Daya Pawar und Sambhaji Bhagat auf einem Dorfplatz einen Protest-Song. Die Intensität ist körperlich spürbar: ein musikalischer Aufschrei gegen die systematische Unterdrückung und Missachtung der Menschenrechte. Die rassistischen Darstellungen, die Dalits als Affen zeigen, werden nicht einfach reproduziert, sondern in wütenden Versen demontiert.
In this energetic short film, the Dalit activists Daya Pawar and Sambhaji Bhagat perform a protest song in a village square. The intensity is physically palpable: a musical outcry against the systematic oppression and disregard for human rights. The racist depictions showing Dalits as monkeys are not simply reproducing these vile images, but dismantling them in angry verse.

Days of Being Lucid is a glimpse into Shabara’s vision of a reimagined civilisation. A world in which existing hegemonies have faltered, where all beings – real or «artificial» – have autonomy over their own voice, and new forms of logic are developed based on a new language.

Das Musikvideo zum Track «Zombies» ist eine Satire auf die «selbstauferlegte Isolation», die durch die Mobilfunktechnologie gefördert wird – wie der kongolesisch-belgische Musiker und Multimedia-Künstler Baloji es nennt. Die visuelle Ebene besteht aus Aufnahmen von Strassen und Nachtclubs, in denen das blaue Leuchten der Handybildschirme mit geisterhaften Kreaturen aus Flaschendeckeln und Kondomen und einem imaginären despotischen Politiker konkurriert, begleitet von einer energiegeladenen Mischung aus Afrobeat und Stammesrhythmen.
The music video of the track «Zombies» is a satire on the «self-imposed isolation» promoted by cell-phone technology – as Congolese–Belgian musician and multimedia artist Baloji calls it. The visual layer is made up of shots from streets and nightclubs, where the blue glow of cell-phone screens competes with ghostly creatures made of bottle caps and condoms and an imaginary despotic politician, accompanied by an energetic mix of afrobeat and tribal rhythms.

Marie Kamau is an artist and programmer currently based in Nairobi, Kenya. Her music is a vivid tapestry of emotions, experiences, and untold stories. Her experimental approach transcends the traditional boundaries of music.
