Artist Bio
Tim Shaw (born 1987) works with sound, light, and communication media to create performances, installations, and site-specific interventions. His work demonstrates an extremely diverse practice. He has invented artistic methods to listen to the sound world of insects, created augmented sound walks and performances for high-voltage devices, transmitted radio broadcasts through trees, and extracted sound material from rocks. Interdisciplinary collaboration is central to his work: he regularly collaborates with experts from a wide range of fields, from musicology and medicine to geology and astrophysics. In 2023, Shaw participated in the Collegium Helveticum Fellowship Program, which promotes the exchange between science and art.
