Marianne Halter & Mario Marchisella ~ Singsong 2025 (for Therese)
Marianne Halter and Mario Marchisella are interested in disturbing the familiar in a way which makes one question everyday perspectives. The landscape of the moor is invaded by the songs of birds who imitate mechanical and electronic sounds as a strategy to survive and adapt to their surroundings.
Artist Bio
Since 2008, artist Marianne Halter (born 1970) and musician Mario Marchisella (born 1972) have been collaborating on artistic projects that explore space and action, sound and image, and are typically presented as videos and site-specific installations. Starting with everyday actions and places, they make their temporality palpable. The specific context plays a crucial role, whether as a contrast to or break with the performance venue, where the work lands like a UFO; or through the landscape, its use and appearance, or the history (or histories) of the place becoming the subject of the work.
This podcast series presents conversations and sounds from the 2025 edition of the Klang Moor Schopfe Festival. Each episode features one particular work and is an attempt to capture the underlying philosophies and processes of the artists in their own words, set to recordings of the installations and occasional sonic interventions by the author.
The next edition of the Klang Moor Schopfe festival will take place from Sept 2 - 12, 2027.
