Artist Bio

Sound artists Fabrizio Di Salvo (born 1981) and Roberto Maqueda (born 1991) present Le Slie's, a kinetic sound installation centered on the eponymous percussion instrument developed by Di Salvo. The creation is based on the specific use of the Doppler effect via Leslie speakers. This mass-produced electromechanical speaker system generates a characteristic vibrato and tremolo through the Doppler effect and periodic level fluctuations. For Le Slie's, it has been further developed into an independent acoustic instrument.

This podcast series presents conversations and sounds from the 2025 edition of the Klang Moor Schopfe Festival. Each episode features one particular work and is an attempt to capture the underlying philosophies and processes of the artists in their own words, set to recordings of the installations and occasional sonic interventions by the author.

The next edition of the Klang Moor Schopfe festival will take place from Sept 2 - 12, 2027.
