«We try to create a kind of living creature that creates its own music.» Peter Bosch & Simone Simons

Artist Bio

The Valencia-based artist duo Peter Bosch (born 1958) and Simone Simons (born 1961) have been developing autonomous dynamic music machines since the 1990s. The work they are showing at the Museum Gais is a new piece in their series Último Esfuerzo Rural (Last Rural Effort), which they began in 2017. This series consists of room-filling kinetic sound installations for which they use everyday objects found on site—in the case of Gais: metal vessels ranging from milk pails to watering cans. They arrange these found objects into whimsical ensembles, set them in motion, and thus create a surprising sound collage. With this work, they continue their series of pieces in which they translate the properties and history of objects characteristic of a region into a sculptural soundscape.

This podcast series presents conversations and sounds from the 2025 edition of the Klang Moor Schopfe Festival. Each episode features one particular work and is an attempt to capture the underlying philosophies and processes of the artists in their own words, set to recordings of the installations and occasional sonic interventions by the author.

The next edition of the Klang Moor Schopfe festival will take place from Sept 2 - 12, 2027.
