For the Norient exhibition Seismographic Sounds – Visions of a New World the Sri Lanka-based musician and label owner Isuru Kumarasinghe compiled an experimental music mixtape with sounds from mainly Asia.

Being a part of the Sri Lankan underground art scene as an experimental musician, visual/sonic and sound artist, Isuru Kumarasinghe has also done several sound performances. He is currently a part of the Music Matters collective and is co-organizing the Music Matters festival which presents non mainstream/experimental music in Colombo.

Biography

Isuru Kumarasinghe is a musician and sound artist from Sri Lanka and is based in Colombo. Through a listening practice his work focuses on the experience of sound perception and sound movements. He is a self-taught artist, who creates tools to transmit philosophies of listening, affect, and the relationship to the body into sound producing. He mainly works with electro-acoustic music improvisation, field recordings, as well as sound installations and performance. Kumarasinghe collaborates extensively with artists in the fields of music, dance, theater, and film, and is a co-founder of the Musicmatters collective in Colombo. He regularly produces music records and is currently co-founding the new producing studio Earscapes in Colombo. Facebook.
