The world through sound, film and video: The 13^th Norient Festival addresses global challenges of our time. From January 10 to 14, 2024, we aim for an open dialogue about the future of this global community through nearly 20 interdisciplinary and internationally curated events.

For the second edition of «Sonic Worlding», Norient editor Philipp Rhensius aka Alienationist invites the sonic experimentalist Nour Sokhon and electronic musician Justin to Arkaoda club Berlin.

This program brings together experimental audio and visual works from filmmakers, artists, and musicians based in the city of Beirut, Lebanon. The aim is to cast light on the artists’ distinct approaches to the city’s past and present. Curated and presented by Rayya Badran.

To mark the launch of the Norient Online Special «Norient City Sounds: Delhi», there will be a series of events starting off with the Release Event in Delhi. Hosted by Khoj Studios in Delhi, this will be an evening of responses, discursive presentations, talks, live performances and sets by some of the contributors in the edition.

Norient continues its collaboration with the Festival Planet Ears in Mannheim. Join us for a live listening session of the experimental podcast series TIMEZONES, where we will face the challenges faced by artists in Kenya, and the war-affected Ukraine.

On the occasion of the fifth festival edition, the Klangteppich magazine will be published at Norient Books with past and new contributions by Iranian cultural practitioners from the diaspora. The magazine will be presented for the first time at Klangteppich 2023.

In this live radio show on Berlin's finest radio Refuge Worldwide, we discuss topics from the book Politics of Curatorship: Collective and Affective Interventions with two contributors, spiced up with some music, and two remote experimental readings.

Norient Books presents a talk and public reading of This Track Contains Politics: The Culture of Sampling in Experimental Electronica by Hannes Liechti @ Gewölbe Paderborn, hosted by the University of Paderborn, study program «Popular Music and Media».

Unstoppable as the tides, previously unheard musical phenomena erupt at the Rewire Festival every year. As a reflection partner of the international festival for adventurous music, Norient will publish an Online Special on March 15 with seven essays, a snap collection, and an audio contribution by authors from the Norient and Rewire network.

The 12th edition of the Norient Festival will focus on the collective exchange of the experiences of a global community. Our international curatorial team brings together diverse voices and perspectives from artists, thinkers, and cultural activists from Uganda, Kenya, Colombia, India, Lebanon, and more.

To mark the release of the Norient Festival 2023 program, we will be hosting an event in Zürich with a festival program introduction, short film screening, and music.
