Veit Arlt ist Koordinator des Zentrums für Afrika Studien Basel. Er hat im Mai 2005 mit einer Dissertation zur Geschichte Ghanas promoviert und hat sich intensiv mit dem südafrikanischen Jazz und seiner Geschichte auseinandergesetzt. Unter dem Label African Music Productions organisiert Veit Arlt in loser Folge Anlässe mit populärer Musik und Jazz aus Afrika jeweils mit Bezug zum Zentrum für Afrikastudien.

Veit Arlt coordinates the Centre for African Studies Basel. He earned his PhD with a dissertation on the history of South-East Ghana and since 2004 has worked on South African jazz and its history. Under the label African Music Productions he produces events with jazz from South Africa and popular music from Africa in general, mostly in the context of African Studies at the University of Basel.
