He is the author of Music after the Fall: Modern Composition and Culture since 1989 (University of California Press) and The Music of Liza Lim (Wildbird), and co-author of Twentieth-Century Music in the West (Cambridge University Press) and editor of the Oxford Dictionary of Music, 6th edition. He writes a fortnightly newsletter on new music on Substack.
