Somar Ashkar is a Graduate from the Higher Institute of Music in Damascus. He studied Classical Western and Oriental Music . As a cello player he was a member of the Syrian National Philharmonic Orchestra and various groups. He participated in Young Euro Classic and other international events. He recorded with Gorillaz Group during their Middle Eastern Tour. He also studied composition with Victor Babinko. As a scholar of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung he is currently following his Master Program in Musicology at Humboldt University Berlin.
