In media and press we are confronted everyday with a lot of negative news about the muslim culture: bombs, burkas, minarets are some words of irritation and provocation which divide the Western society… why? Bombs have nothing to do with real Islam culture, only unbelieving criminals use them, a minaret is just the same as a churchtower…

So let us take a closer look to the rich and beautiful Middle Eastern music scene, there’s much more then just rai and bellydance… As a red line leading through this night, and as examples of the polarisation between politics and culture, I will present some podcasts (in German language…) about the «other» oriental music scene by Thomas Burkhalter and Simon Grab for Norient.
