Jakob Ullmann is a composer that was born in Freiberg, Saxony, in 1958. He attended two schools in Naumburg (Saale), where he also lives and works today. He studied church music in Dresden and then took private composition lessons with Friedrich Goldmann. He received his PhD in Braunschweig and was professor of composition, notation, and music theory in Basel from 2008 to 2018. In 2022, he was awarded the Music Prize of the State of Saxony-Anhalt for his life’s work.
