Jana Saleh
Jana Saleh is a performer, music producer and sound artist from Beirut, Lebanon. She composes music for plays, ad campaigns, and television series and is an active member of Beirut’s DJ scene. She has a BA in film scoring and music synthesis from Berklee College of Music. She spent ten years in New York exploring various music scenes, touring North America as an electro-acoustic duo with her long-time collaborator and Csound pioneer Dr. Richard Boulanger, and heading the new media department in the number one reggae and dancehall label, VP Records.
Saleh has a monthly slot on Radio Al Hara where she explores original material. Her DJ sets have been broadcast on NTS Radio, Radio Nova, Radio Veneno, and Root Radio. In August 2020, Saleh’s music studio and home were devastated by the Beirut port blast. Her focus and efforts since, like many artists residing in Beirut, are geared, to the best of her ability, towards awareness and continuation of the artistic scene of the city.
Saleh has also been involved in various multimedia projects: producing a series of musical encounters and concerts for the Sharjah Biennale 2011; performing as part of Ashkal Alwan's Homeworks; Jaou Festival in Tunis with Ligia Lewis; the ICA; the Beirut Art Center; Schauspiel Köln – Britney with Melissa Logan from Chicks On Speed; Douroub Al Tawaya Festival; Abu Dhabi–AE with a piece by Cevdet Erek; at Sfeir-Semler gallery in Beirut with Mounira Al Solh with a project performed again in Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven and Wiels, Belgium.
