We are celebrating the release of the virtual exhibition Norient City Sounds: Bogotá with an event on September 4, 2024 from 6pm COT hosted by the Goethe Institut in Bogotá, Colombia.
After an introduction by curator Luisa Uribe and Goethe Institut Colombia’s director Stephanie Maiwald, you can expect an evening filled with performances, video projections, listening stations for our various sonic contributions, reading modules for the articles, and more.
The artists and participants will delve into key questions and topics of the multimedia publication titled Bogotá Voices, exploring Colombia’s clashing capital city and diverse music scenes together in a wider dialogue. 21 artists, collectives, and activists have contributed to a diverse digital collection of experimental sound pieces, interviews, DJ sets, essays, short films, photo series, and more to experience Bogotá’s sonic voices in a unique way.

6:30pm Discourses
Welcoming words by Goethe Institut Colombia’s director Stephanie Maiwald and an introductory notes by curator Bogotá-based anthropologist-sociologist and cultural manager Luisa Uribe.
Listening stations and reading modules invite participants throughout the evening to immerse themselves into the digital publication. Soundwalks about the sounds of water, the relationship of the city with nature, the trajectory of delivery guys and special mixes.
7pm Live Performance
by Peche 007, Ice 007 y Nova de Rá
A performance inspired by the contradictory sounds of the city and the way in which queer communities have created a space of their own.
7:30pm Video Projections
From contributing artist LadyHunterTexas: They discover Bogota’s gritty, desolate streets and the vibrant stories of four key figures from the local electronic and queer scene in their comissioned video essay La Ventana (Marica) Indiscreta.
From contributing music label In-correcto: In honor of eight years of groundbreaking work by the local label, Camilo Casallas and Santiago Alvarez present a video essay B de Burro that explores Bogotá’s dynamic cultural evolution through historical footage and powerful spoken word.
