Hossam Hamdi Abu Dan, a Palestinian director from Gaza, has been making films since 2010. He’s directed documentaries and TV series and won several awards locally and internationally. In 2023, during the 15-month genocide in Gaza, he helped directed Gaza Sound Man. The film uses personal stories to show how Gaza’s sounds transformed. The cheerful calls of street vendors and children’s laughter on their way to school were replaced by the devastating sounds of bombings, destruction, and explosions.
