Brooke McCorkle
Brooke McCorkle earned degrees in International Relations with East Asia (2004) and Music (2008) from the University of Oklahoma. Since then, she has continued her work at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2012, the department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations awarded her a Master’s degree based on her thesis, «Nature, Technology, and Sound Design in Gojira (1954)». Currently, she is completing a PhD in musicology at the University of Pennsylvania. Her dissertation, «Searching for Wagner in Japan», analyzes the reception of Richard Wagner’s music and prose works in Japanese history and popular culture. In the future, she hopes to pursue a project on film sound in East Asian cinema.
