Michael Spahr [VJ Rhaps, *1973] is a journalist and media artist. He is the host and DJ of norient's monthly radio show Sonic Traces. He was on the board of Norient from 2008 until 2014. He developed the website norient.com. He co-founded the Norient Musikfilm Festival and was the co-director until 2014. He contributes with his video art to the audio-visual scientific media performances of Norient.
He studied history, philosophy and media sciences in Bern and Amsterdam (MA 1998). After graduating from university he started working for Dutch and Swiss video production companies and TV stations. Since 2003 he is a freelance film director and media artist. Since 2010 he works for the community radio station Radio Bern RaBe. At the moment he is the editor-in-chief of the news show RaBe-Info.
His media art work is often interdisciplinary, interactive and is performed in real-time. He produces audio-visual live shows and interactive backdrops for concerts, theatre plays and art performances. His video art is shown in galleries all over the world. He has directed dozens of video clips, documentaries, short fiction movies and commercials. He lives and works in Bern (Switzerland).
