Sonic Traces: From the Arab World – Release

This limited vinyl offers music, sounds and noises from the Arab World: Propaganda music by political groups and clans, psychedelic Arabic Rock from the late 1960s and 1970s, the noises of bombs and machine guns, synthesized Electro-Sha’bi from Cairo, old and rare shellac recordings, Death Metal, Rap, Electro-Acoustic Music, and Musique Concrète. Collected and mixed by the Norient collective. The release comes in two versions: limited mix edit (on vinyl via Bandcamp [1], Big-Cartel [2] or Traversion [3]) and radio edit (digital download via Bandcamp [1]). This Radio Edit Version documents our audio-visual performance «Sonic Traces: From the Arab World [5]» 2008-2012. The German version of this radio edit won the critics award at the SonOhr-Festival [6] 2012.
