Jaak is from Paarl, the town where the Taalmonument (Language Monument) for Afrikaans is standing. He grew up on the ‘wrong side’ of town though – as he says: in the projects in Paarl East. Even though many people still consider Afrikaans the language of apartheid, he raps in his language. Small wonder, today more non-white South Africans speak Afrikaans. The flows are beautiful. His new album ‘Flêtse Maniere’ and all the tracks can be listened to here. Download the record for the price of your own choice.
