One of the most difficult tasks I’ve ever faced happened a couple of weeks ago, when I was invited by influential Melbourne community radio station 3RRR FM to present a selection of the most influential cumbia songs, from its beginnings as Caribbean folk music to the latest digital mutations…
Cumbia is a highly infectious rhythm born in Colombia, spreading across Latin America in past decades and now taking over the world as not just the latest club music craze, but as a musical genre in its own right. Melbourne-based DJ and producer Moses Iten (a.k.a. Saca La Mois DJ!!) of the Cumbia Cosmonauts presented a selection of the most influential cumbia songs, from its beginnings as Caribbean folk music to the latest digital mutations.
