Jacek Szczepanek
Jacek Szczepanek, born in 1984 in Warsaw, listens to both people and sounds. He gained experience in ethnographic interview in Indonesia, Syria, Poland and Germany. As a PhD candidate at the University of the Arts in Berlin he watches the global dissemination of music production software. As a sound designer he is keen on field recording and sensitive to soundscape. His sound art is usually located in a community, as in Concert for Housing Estate Yells (Warsaw, 2012, 2013), made together with people from a high-rise residential area and played back on their streets. Having spent a fair amount of his childhood in the countryside he has always been exposed to disco polo. The genre has remained in his professional and artistic interest since 2012.
